Telecom and Optical test capabilities Upgraded

MET's Telecom lab has upgraded its surge test equipment to meet the new specifications of Section 4.6.7.1 of GR-1089-Core. This will become a Telcordia requirement January 1, 2006. This upgrade can test surge protection to 10 x 1000 µseconds up to 2000V peak open circuit and 100A short circuit conditions.
The fiber optic lab has also benefited by a communications analyzer upgrade that tests optical interface OC-192/STM-64 options, with a line rate of 9953.280 Mbps, a payload rate of 9621.504 Mbps and a overhead rate of 331.776 Mbps. MET continues to offer SONET/SDH testing to GR-253-CORE, ANSI T1.105 and T1.416 series and ITU-T testing including G.703, G.707, G.782, G.783, G.813, G783, G.825, G.957 and country specific standards.
